Restore expands use of renewable HVO fuel

Restore Plc is accelerating its sustainability efforts with the rollout of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) fuel across multiple UK locations.

Following a successful trial at one of our Information Management sites in Thurrock. New HVO tanks have now been installed two further sites with further installations planned for late 2025 and into 2026 across our divisions

What is HVO?

HVO is a renewable diesel alternative made from vegetable oils. It offers up to a 90% reduction in carbon emissions compared to traditional diesel, making it a cleaner, greener choice for fleet operations and logistics. This initiative is a key example of how we are embedding sustainability into everyday operations

Sustainable partnerships
Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond our own operations. We’ve supported the British Library for over 25 years and have recently taken steps to directly support their sustainability goals. As part of our renewed contract, we’ve transitioned the vehicles servicing their sites from diesel to HVO fuel reducing CO₂ emissions by approximately 80 tonnes annually.

In May 2025, we repurposed 16,000 litres of surplus HVO fuel provided by a leading supplier of specialist insulation and sustainability building products and services company. This fuel was used to power Secure Destruction vehicles in our Technology division, helping to reduce waste and support our low-carbon operations.

Dan Baker
“We are proud to be able to expand our use of HVO fuel and grateful to our partners and colleagues who are helping us drive meaningful change. These efforts are part of a broader commitment to reduce our environmental impact and support our customers and business in achieving sustainability goals.”
