Training and Development

Realise your Potential

There are currently more than 2,000 people who work across the Restore Group. Despite our size we still firmly believe that power and responsibility go together and should be given to as many as possible.

As part of our development offer we have a team leader and management apprenticeship programme we call ‘Realise your Potential’. At any one time, there will be a group of employees working on a course that’s typically 18 months long, from Level 2 right up to Level 7, including customer services, digital marketing, supervisory management and senior leadership.

Klien Chapman, at Restore Datashred, is studying Level 3 Business Administration, the equivalent of an A level, while apprenticed to Strategic Services.
“I never expected to enjoy my job as much as I do and I am entirely grateful for the opportunity to learn new skills and gain a nationally recognised qualification at the same time. I’ve received specialised, invaluable training from an experienced manager who inspires me to be the best that I can. My confidence has grown rapidly and I see any challenges put in front of me as an opportunity to learn. I don’t feel like an apprentice, I am one of the team and treated like everyone else.”

Growing Talent

Supported within the Group by Restore Harrow Green, the Growing Talent scheme is an external business-led initiative that has been running for four years. It’s an inclusive, free facility open to anyone over 18, from any social or academic background, that brings the unemployed and employers with permanent roles together on a maximum 12-week programme to help secure new talent confidently. During those four years, Restore Harrow Green has employed 35 people.

Executive Assistant, Sharon Sales, explains:
“Growing Talent is a fantastic programme and has worked very well for us. We’re pleased to be supporting people who are keen to work and who just need an opportunity to show what they can do. We have given them a chance and they have repaid us with their hard work and commitment. Through the programme we have gained new members of the team who are capable and motivated and it’s great to see their confidence and abilities increasing. They are an asset to our company and I am extremely proud of what they have achieved.”

Health and Safety

Health and safety is overseen by our Risk Committee and Group Board and we strive continually to improve our performance.

In the past year we implemented a new accident reporting system across our Restore Records Management business, which has helped improve our training methods.

We are proud of our low incident rate and always seek ways to improve our training and reporting, as employee welfare is at the heart of our business.
